Dortmund, 23.04.2019 (PresseBox) - The International Data Spaces Association (IDSA) aims at open, federated data ecosystems and marketplaces ensuring data sovereignty for the creator of the data. Today, there is a common understanding that data is of high value and there is a need for vendor-independent data ecosystems and marketplaces, open to all, at low cost, with low entry barriers.

IDSA addresses the need for data sovereignty as a primary goal. But data-driven business-ecosystems require a fundamental level of cybersecurity and comprehensive logging of transactions for several purposes.

Blockchain technology is a mature technology that can fulfill this need. This Position Paper discusses the possible usage scenarios for blockchain technology in the IDS concepts for the data economy. This is illustrated by several use cases in the IDS ecosystem that combines the power of IDS and blockchain technology.
