Dear Readers,

The recovery in the gold price at the end of the week through October 9 was followed by a cautiously optimistic sentiment among professional market observers. The Kitco survey showed that seven out of 14 analysts expected prices to rise in the coming week; two anticipated declines, and five were neutral or undecided.

Among the 206 participants in the online survey, 93 and 45 percent, respectively, expected gold prices to rise. Another 77 anticipated falling prices, while 36 expected sideways movement. The survey captures opinions for a short-term forecast horizon and is neither a representative investor study nor a reliable long-term price forecast.

Rich Checkan of Asset Strategies International considered a Federal Reserve interest rate hike in October unlikely at the time of the survey. Adrian Day expected volatile prices until a possible end to the war in Iran. Inflation data and bond yields remain key influencing factors.

Osisko Gold Group Prepares for Cariboo

Osisko Gold Group - https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/osisko-gold-group-inc/ - is developing the Cariboo gold project in British Columbia, which it owns entirely and for which it has received all necessary approvals. The updated corporate timeline calls for construction to begin in August 2026, with the first gold pour in the first quarter of 2029 and commercial production in the second half of 2029.

Recent infill drilling in the Lowhee Zone returned, among other results, 7.28 g/t gold over 16.15 meters. The results support further geological evaluation but do not, on their own, constitute proven resource growth. Financing and construction progress remain critical.

Southern Cross Gold Develops Sunday Creek

Southern Cross Gold Consolidated - https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/southern-cross-gold-consolidated-ltd/ - is developing the Sunday Creek gold-antimony project in the Australian state of Victoria. According to the company, antimony accounts for about one-fifth of the estimated in-situ metal value. A 200,000-meter drilling program is intended to support further exploration.

In September 2026, the application for a mining license for Sunday Creek was accepted for processing. According to company information at , 435.5 meters of the exploration tunnel had been excavated by the end of September; completion was postponed to January 2027.

Conclusion: Osisko Gold Group and Southern Cross Gold Approach Milestones

The market environment continues to focus on gold projects, while interest rates and geopolitical events may cause volatility. Osisko is set to begin construction and production preparations, while Southern Cross is focused on exploration and permitting. Financing and execution remain critical.
