Modern applications and innovations cannot succeed without the necessary raw materials. Whether lithium, nickel, cobalt, copper, or zinc, high-tech products, renewable energies, digitalization, and increasing electrification all depend on the availability of certain raw materials. These are strategically important. For more than 50 percent of silver is an important industrial metal. Gold is found in certain products, albeit much less frequently. There, it is a high-tech raw material, for example in cell phones or in space. This is because it has a unique combination of properties. Gold is an excellent conductor, albeit not quite as good as silver, and it remains absolutely stable, malleable, and ductile.
Nickel, for example, is used in alloys for applications in the automotive and aviation industries and is found in batteries and energy storage solutions. Zinc provides corrosion protection for steel and iron, is also an important component of alloys, and is used in batteries. Copper is particularly versatile. Copper is practically ubiquitous in solar and wind power plants, in the machinery and construction industries, in the building sector, and in electric vehicles.
Countries and companies are, in a sense, hunting for critical raw materials in order to secure them. New deposits are needed to become less dependent on exports. Not only countries such as China, Australia, and the Congo, but also Europe is striving to intensify exploration and production. One company involved in this area is Aurania Resources. Blue Moon Metals is active in Norway and the US.
Aurania Resources - https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/aurania-resources-ltd/ - focuses on precious metals and critical energy raw materials in Europe, specifically in Italy (nickel, cobalt, iron, copper, and chromium) and France. There, the company has just added three new exploration licenses (gold, polymetallic metals) through a subsidiary.
Blue Moon Metals - https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/blue-moon-metals-inc/ - owns the Nussir copper-gold-silver project and the NSG copper-zinc-gold-silver project in Norway. An underground access is currently being created in Nussir. Then there is the Blue Moon zinc-copper-gold-silver project in the USA. The acquisition of the Springer Mine secures the infrastructure necessary for mineral processing in Nevada for the company.
