ESMT strengthens research and teaching with three new professors

- Per Olsson, Tamer Boyaci, and Xu Li join faculty as professors in areas of accounting, operations management, and strategy

- ESMT faculty grows to 34 members from 18 countries

ESMT European School of Management and Technology has engaged three new professors, strengthening the faculty to 34 members from 18 countries. Per Olsson, formerly associate professor of accounting at the Fuqua School of Business, Duke University, joined ESMT on August 1 as professor of accounting. From September 1 Tamer Boyaci, most recently full professor of operations management at McGill University, is joining ESMT as professor of management science. Xu Li, who received his PhD at London Business School this year, has been hired as assistant professor of strategy.

Before coming to ESMT Per Olsson was a tenured associate professor of accounting at the Fuqua School of Business, Duke University, which he joined in 2001. He had previously been an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Prof. Olsson also maintains ties with his native country of Sweden, where he was the Jan Wallander visiting professor of business administration at the Stockholm School of Economics in 2009-2010, and he is a visiting fellow at the Institute for Financial Research in Stockholm. Prof. Olsson's research focuses on the role of accounting information and disclosures in investment decisions. His research has been published in top academic journals such as The Accounting Review, the Journal of Accounting and Economics, and the Journal of Accounting Research, among others. He is a member of the editorial boards of several journals including The Accounting Review, the Review of Accounting Studies, the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, the European Accounting Review.

Tamer Boyaci, a citizen of Canada and Turkey, previously held the position of professor of operations management at McGill University in Montreal. From 2011-2013 he was the associate dean of masters programs at McGill. He is also visiting professor at the College of Administrative Sciences and Economics, Koç University, in Istanbul. Before joining McGill University in 1998, Prof. Boyaci was a teaching and research assistant at Columbia University. His research interests lie in the field of supply chain management and sustainability in the area of operations. Prof. Boyaci's research has been published by top international journals, including Management Science, Operations Research, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, among others. He has received the Quebec Teaching Chair Award and the Desautels Faculty of Management Distinguished Teaching Award. Prof. Boyaci was Desautels Faculty Scholar, an award of distinction for excellent research, as well as a fellow of the Marcel Desautels Institute for Integrated Management.

Xu Li will join ESMT from London Business School (LBS), where he received his PhD in strategy and entrepreneurship. The native Chinese was a visiting PhD in management at Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, in 2012. In 2013 Prof. Li worked as an instructor and teaching assistant in the field of strategic analysis and strategy at LBS. He is the recipient of the DIIE PhD Stipend Award of Deloitte Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the Fellowship for Doctoral Students of London Business School. Prof. Li received his master's degrees from Columbia University and Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh.
