Tech Soft 3D Highlights Relationship with US Farathane in Streamlining CAD Access for Plastic Part Design and Manufacturing

A multi-year global Enterprise Licensing Agreement gives US Farathane teams across engineering, cost and process planning shared access to SpinFire Enterprise, replacing pooled licenses and per-department contracts with one agreement.

Bend, Ore., 29.10.2026 (PresseBox) - Tech Soft 3D, developer of the SpinFire family of CAD visualization, conversion, and collaboration applications, today highlighted its multi-year partnership with US Farathane, a Detroit-based manufacturer of large-tonnage plastic parts for the automotive industry, which has consolidated the company's CAD access under a single global Enterprise Licensing Agreement.

US Farathane operates 19 sites globally, including 13 in the United States, two in Mexico, and four in China, supplying underbody, underhood, interior, and exterior plastic components to automotive customers. The company specializes in large-tonnage plastic and assembly work, including single-shot parts up to 4,400 tons and dual-shot parts up to 2,500 tons.

"If it's plastic on a vehicle, we have the capability to make it," said Tim Maly, Director of Advanced Sales Engineering and New Product Development at US Farathane.

Pooled Licenses Created a Bottleneck for Engineering Teams

Evaluating manufacturability early in the design process is central to how US Farathane works with its customers. "The earlier we can see the part in its environment, understand what its functional, structural needs are, or decorative, we can then help our customers make the design as efficiently as possible from the get-go," Maly said.

That process depends on giving engineers across multiple departments and regions the ability to view and interact with customer CAD data. Before consolidating its licensing, US Farathane held separate SpinFire agreements across departments and international locations, with a limited pool of licenses shared among teams. "We are no longer losing efficiency while engineers wait their turn for pooled licenses to become available," Maly said.

A Global Agreement Replaces Fragmented, Department-Level Contracts

Working with Tech Soft 3D, US Farathane's team consolidated its individual departmental and regional agreements into a single multi-year Enterprise Licensing Agreement. "Ultimately, Tech Soft 3D was able to propose a multi-year Enterprise Licensing Agreement that met our global business framework for access across several departments, regions, and cost," Maly said.

The consolidated agreement simplified billing while expanding access company-wide. "We were able to consolidate all these individual agreements and rates that varied between departments and regions into one agreement for a multi-year deal," Maly said. "This gave us the ability to always have access and get to what we feel was a very competitive rate that met the needs of our business framework while giving everybody access that would need it."

US Farathane's Advanced Engineering and Applications teams use SpinFire Enterprise to assess customer part feasibility, review bills of materials in 3D, and support process engineering and costing work. "SpinFire allows us to make early analysis of the part design and manufacturability, the environment in which it must fit and function, and initial concept proposals for improvement," Maly said. "SpinFire is vital for viewing the bill of materials in 3D and for Process Engineering and Costing to see the scope of content for accurate estimating and assembly capital needs, material volume, part maturation, risks, and cycle times."

Broader Access Supports Faster, More Consistent Design Reviews

Before consolidating, US Farathane evaluated other options on the market before expanding its existing relationship with Tech Soft 3D. "We already had it, people were familiar with it, and it's user-friendly. We wanted to stay with Tech Soft 3D," Maly said.

By moving from pooled, department-level licenses to a global agreement, US Farathane's engineering, applications, and costing teams can now access CAD data without waiting on license availability, supporting the kind of early, cross-functional design review the company relies on to serve its automotive customers.
