Goldman Sachs Research forecasts a gold price of $4,900 per ounce by the end of 2026. Goldman’s model estimated central bank purchases in July at 44 metric tons; on a seasonally adjusted basis, the three-month trend stood at 91 metric tons per month. According to the World Gold Council, $18 billion flowed into gold ETFs in August, causing their holdings to rise by 121 metric tons to a record 4,189 metric tons.
Although the technology sector is a minor consumer of gold, it accounted for 323 metric tons of gold in 2025 — nearly unchanged from the previous year. AI-related applications are supporting demand, but so far without significant growth in the sector as a whole. According to a WGC estimate by mine production reached a record 3,672 metric tons in 2025. Investor and central bank purchases are supporting demand.
Osisko Gold Group (formerly Osisko Development) - https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/osisko-gold-group-inc/ - is developing the Cariboo project in British Columbia, which it owns 100 percent. According to the company, the key permits have been obtained; approvals for the power line and other routine clearances are still pending. Initial construction work is underway. The company plans its first gold pour for Q1 2029 and the start of commercial production for H2 2029. Preliminary internal model comparisons for two Lowhee sub-areas indicate more ounces of gold but do not constitute an updated resource estimate. The goal is to establish a mid-sized gold producer.
Fury Gold Mines - https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/fury-gold-mines-ltd/ - holds a portfolio of more than 157,000 hectares in Québec comprising gold and critical minerals projects. According to the company, it has secured funding for its 2026 exploration programs. At Eau Claire, Fury reported 14.41 g/t gold over 3.92 m from an infill drill hole; the results are expected to support the pre-feasibility study. The 11.3 million Dolly Varden shares previously held were exchanged for shares of Contango Silver & Gold as a result of the merger.
