GEDA SHAFT LIFT ensures flexible transport of people and materials in Roskilde
Innovative shaft solution for a new office building in Denmark
Asbach-Bäumenheim, 28.09.2026 (PresseBox) - In the construction of a new office building in Roskilde, Denmark, the GEDA SHAFT LIFT is being used as a flexible solution for the safe transport of people and materials within the building. Working in collaboration with the Danish client SST Hejs A/S, GEDA has been able to deliver a solution that is perfectly tailored to the specific requirements of the construction project.
The project developer is DS Flexhal A/S. The shaft, which is approximately twelve metres high, connects three storeys and is situated in the centre of the building. It was precisely this location that placed particular demands on the transport solution: in addition to building materials, people also needed to be able to move safely and efficiently between the levels.
A new solution for new requirements
SST Hejs A/S had originally planned to use a GEDA 300 Z for the project. However, as the project also required the transport of personnel whilst maintaining a high payload capacity, attention turned to the GEDA SHAFT LIFT. With a payload of 1,250 kilograms or up to ten people, the model used offers sufficient capacity for day-to-day construction site operations. At the same time, a travel speed of up to 40 metres per minute enables rapid transport between the building’s three levels. Another decisive factor was the construction schedule. The GEDA SHAFT LIFT is being used in its premium version for the project in Roskilde. In this case, the C-side has been extended by one module. The exit is fitted with a two-part vertical sliding door, known as a bi-parting door. GEDA Flexy landing doors are used at the three landing levels. The lifting height on the construction site is 12 metres. However, heights of up to 150 metres are possible. The façade of the office building, a combination of concrete and glass elements, needed to be completed as quickly as possible. As the GEDA SHAFT LIFT could be installed within the designated shaft, vertical transport could be ensured without unnecessarily disrupting the ongoing façade construction.
Flexible installation in challenging spaces
The GEDA SHAFT LIFT also demonstrated its design advantages during on-site installation. The base unit was brought into the building using a forklift truck and a tow truck and secured from above. The remaining components were then transported to their intended installation positions on trolleys or using pallet trucks. Heavier components were also moved to their final locations using the forklift truck.
The compact design of the individual components makes installation particularly easy in buildings where construction is already at an advanced stage. When unassembled, the components of the GEDA SHAFT LIFT can be transported through standard doors. This means the system can also be used where access routes are limited.
Modular system for different shafts
The GEDA SHAFT LIFT has been specially developed for the transport of people and materials in shafts. The fully enclosed platform is suitable for both existing shafts and new constructions. Thanks to its modular design, the basic platform can be extended on several sides and thus adapted to different shaft sizes. Variable entry and exit sides, as well as different platform dimensions, allow for a project-specific configuration. The available internal dimensions range from approximately 1.3 x 1.3 metres up to 3.4 x 1.3 metres. The platform dimensions are designed so that, depending on the configuration, EURO pallets – including pallet trucks – can also be transported.
The car is guided by the GEDA UNI-X-MAST, which ensures a smooth ride. A modern PLC control system, floor selection and functions for load and power reduction support efficient and comfortable operation on the construction site. Another advantage is the installation concept. The car can be installed and removed directly from the platform. This significantly reduces the installation effort, particularly for installations inside buildings.
Successful collaboration with SST Hejs A/S
The use of the GEDA SHAFT LIFT in Roskilde, in collaboration with SST Hejs A/S, enabled the implementation of a solution that goes beyond the originally intended purpose of purely transporting materials. The combination of a high payload, approved passenger transport, compact installation and flexible adaptation to the existing shaft made the system the ideal solution for the office building.
The project serves as a prime example of how the modular GEDA SHAFT LIFT can efficiently meet even the most demanding requirements for vertical transport right from the construction phase. At the same time, the application in Roskilde highlights the system’s versatility in construction projects where both early closure of the building envelope and reliable transport within the building are equally essential.
