Innovative further training: Focus on high-viscosity inkjet inks
EZD announces new online course

Selb, 09.05.2025 (PresseBox) - The use of inkjet printing processes offers numerous advantages. Thanks to its flexibility and versatility, various materials such as paper, plastic, glass and metal can be printed on. The high resolution and precision enable detailed graphics and fine functional structures. Inkjet printers are also cost-efficient and ideal for small to medium-sized print runs.
One of the main limitations of the inkjet printing process is the low ink viscosity required for use in conventional printheads. This requirement poses challenges: low viscosity inks may contain fewer functional materials / solids, which limits the variety of materials that can be printed. In addition, the low viscosity often results in thinner layers, which can affect the mechanical and functional properties of the printed structures. Low viscosity inks tend to run faster and require longer drying times, which can affect production speed and the stability of print results.
These limitations illustrate why high viscosity inks are so interesting and increasingly gaining interest. They enable the use of high-viscosity binders and a higher pigment concentration and improve the print quality and stability of the printed structures. This opens up great potential for the development of new materials and applications, such as printed electronics, adhesive bonding and biomedical applications.
The European Center for Dispersion Technologies (EZD) in Selb is pleased to announce the new online course “Formulation of High Viscosity Inkjet Inks”. This course is aimed at professionals and interested parties who want to expand their knowledge of the latest developments and techniques in the field of inkjet inks.
"We have found ideal cooperation partners for this course: EZD focuses on ink formulation, Quantica is a manufacturer of inkjet printing systems for high-viscosity materials, and the Fraunhofer Institute IPA contributes extensive know-how about the printing process. We have also been able to attract industry experts for special topics relating to the characterization and application of high-viscosity inkjet inks. I am very excited about this highly interesting course," says course director Dr. Felipe Wolff Fabris.
Course content and objectives
The two-day online course offers comprehensive insights into the formulation and characterization of high-viscosity inkjet inks. Participants will learn about the requirements for modern inkjet inks and receive practical instructions on how to stabilize and optimize the inks. A special focus is placed on rheological characterization and the determination of particle size in order to guarantee the printability and quality of the inks.
Expert knowledge and practical examples
Renowned speakers from industry and research share their specialist knowledge and experience. Practical examples from various application areas such as adhesives, silicones and dental coatings are used to illustrate the practical relevance of the course content.
Why participate?
Participants benefit from an in-depth understanding of inkjet technology and expand their know-how in the application and optimization of high-viscosity inkjet inks. The course offers an ideal platform to exchange ideas with experts and make valuable contacts.
Registration and further information
The online course will take place from June 4 to 5, 2025.
Interested parties can register via the SKZ website and receive further information there.
