Würzburg, 19.10.2026 (PresseBox) - The SKZ Plastics Center is continuing to expand its activities in the field of additive manufacturing. Since September 1, 2026, David Fetter, as Technical Sales and Applications Engineer, has been responsible for expanding industrial services at the Center for Additive Production (CAP) and serves as the primary point of contact for companies regarding inquiries about additive manufacturing.

David Fetter Is the New Point of Contact for Companies

Today, additive manufacturing offers companies far more than just the production of prototypes. It opens up new possibilities in the development, optimization, and production of components, as well as in cost-effective mass production. With David Fetter, the SKZ is establishing a central point of contact for companies that want to harness the potential of additive manufacturing for their products and processes.

“Many companies are interested in additive manufacturing but don’t know how to get started. Together, we analyze their requirements and assess whether and how a component can be implemented in a way that makes economic and technical sense,” explains David Fetter.

The Entire Process Chain from a Single Source

The CAP’s range of services covers the entire additive manufacturing process chain. Companies receive support with feasibility analyses, the digitization of existing components via 3D scanning, design optimization, component manufacturing, and quality assurance.

Various technologies are used, such as Fused Layer Modeling (FLM), Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), and Digital Light Processing (DLP). The service offering is complemented by testing of the manufactured components. Mechanical, thermal, and chemical properties can thus be directly evaluated and documented.

Neutral Consulting as the Foundation

The SKZ sees itself as an independent partner to industry. The focus is not on the technology itself, but on finding the optimal solution for each specific application. “The most common questions revolve around components, materials, and cost-effectiveness. Not every component is suitable for additive manufacturing. However, when the conditions are right, tooling costs can be reduced, lead times shortened, and new design possibilities opened up. Our task is to evaluate this potential together with the companies,” says David Fetter.

Technical and Sales Expertise

“We were able to fill this position exceptionally well with David Fetter. He brings valuable experience from industrial plastics processing and understands the requirements of companies. As SKZ, we are thereby improving the interface between technical expertise and industrial market needs in the field of additive manufacturing,” explains Adrian Beetz, Group Leader for Additive Manufacturing Research.
