TÜV SÜD supports the Expansion of Renewable Energy and the Development of Hybrid Parks

TÜV SÜD at WindEnergy in Hamburg

Munich / Hamburg, 08.09.2026 (PresseBox) - “Reliable and Hybrid Energy for Tomorrow” is TÜV SÜD’s theme at WindEnergy, which will take place in Hamburg from September 22 to 25, 2026. The provider of Testing, Inspection and Certification services supports the energy industry in expanding wind energy, photovoltaics, and battery storage systems, as well as in implementing cybersecurity requirements. A particular focus of this year’s presence at WindEnergy is on hybrid renewable energy parks. (Hall A1, Booth 313, and Hall A2, Booth 105)

By intelligently combining wind and solar power plants with battery energy storage systems (BESS), hybrid parks make it possible to ensure a more continuous power supply thanks to their differing generation profiles and additional storage capacity, thereby also reducing the load on transmission and distribution grids. Another advantage of hybrid parks is that, by using a single connection point, they optimize the use of existing grid connections and grid capacity while reducing the need for further grid expansion.

Quality Assurance Throughout the Lifecycle

TÜV SÜD has extensive knowledge and experience with renewable energy plants and supports planners, installers, and operators throughout the entire lifecycle of the plants. In onshore wind energy, wind assessments, wind potential and site analyses, type certifications and tests, certificates, and structural stability assessments enable the successful planning and implementation of new turbines and wind farms. In offshore wind energy, TÜV SÜD´s services range from project certifications according to international standards and testing in accordance with European regulations to acting as an owner’s engineer for offshore substations.

TÜV SÜD offers tests of PV and battery systems and components in its own test laboratories, as well as inspections PV systems, PV parks, and BESS to ensure the compliant installation and safe operation. These services include inspections during the planning and construction phases, reviews of planning documents, pre-commissioning inspections, periodic inspections, and support in preparing risk assessments and safety concepts. Other services provided by TÜV SÜD for renewable energy systems and hybrid parks include support in areas such as Technical Due Diligence, grid compatibility, supplier management, and risk-based maintenance.

Cybersecurity for KRITIS Operators

Due to the increasing number of cyberattacks on critical infrastructure in Europe and Germany, it is becoming increasingly important for operators to ensure the cybersecurity of their facilities and systems. A particular challenge lies in implementing the diverse requirements of the relevant regulations and standards in a legally compliant manner. TÜV SÜD not only supports operators in implementing an Information Security Management System (ISMS) in accordance with ISO/IEC 27001, but also assists them in meeting the extensive requirements of the European NIS 2 Directive and the German KRITIS Framework Act.
