Omnitron Griese expands its battery pack production with a future-oriented approach

Schlangenbad, Hesse / Hilchenbach, North Rhine-Westphalia, 23.07.2026 (PresseBox) - On 23 July, Omnitron Griese GmbH will celebrate the tenth anniversary of its production site for battery and battery pack solutions in Hilchenbach. The development and integration partner for mobile power supply has already invested in the site once again. Omnitron Griese is thus expanding its manufacturing capacity in Germany and establishing a development laboratory for new production technologies and process automation solutions.
On 23 July 2016, Adrian Griese, CEO of Omnitron Griese GmbH, officially opened the new battery pack production facility in the „Vordere Insbach“ industrial estate in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district on behalf of his family. “I had the utmost respect for the challenge ahead of us. We didn’t know whether our ideas at that time for the battery pack facility could actually be put into practice. While the ground-breaking ceremony, not even half of the planned production capacity was being utilised,” he says. “We were all the happier, then, when – due to rising demand – we had a wall removed whilst construction was still underway so that we could immediately add an extra section.”
Omnitron supplies a wide variety of markets with bespoke battery pack solutions. “We take a holistic approach to battery packs, from product design right through to production. Our goal is to enable our customers’ innovations in this way,” says Adrian Griese. “With our expertise and competence in mobile energy and our access to various technologies, we contribute pragmatically and professionally to ensuring that our customers can realise their target applications.”
Growth and Expansion
Since the opening of the Hilchenbach site, Omnitron’s workforce has grown from 60 to 130 employees. Demand has shifted towards increasingly complex and larger battery packs. This has led to a second expansion, which began in 2025 with the acquisition of the neighbouring plot of land. The battery pack specialist has built „Plant 2“ on a site covering 1,000 square metres. Here, in addition to manufacturing, Omnitron is now investing in a development laboratory for process automation and new production technologies, such as laser welding. “We are also further developing our software, hardware and mechanical expertise here,” says Adrian Griese. “At the same time, in Hilchenbach we are addressing issues relating to functional safety and compliance with various standards, which we implement for our customers from both a technical and legal perspective. The primary focus here is on obtaining certifications and meeting regulatory requirements for the battery passport or those set out in the ‘Cyber Resilience Act’.”
Omnitron – which has been self-certified for several years – manufactures, amongst other things, in accordance with EcoVadis ESG standards and the DIN EN ISO 13485 standard for medical technology.
Drivetrain and the future
As a family-run business, Omnitron is committed to supporting Germany as a business location. “I believe it is important that we maintain a high level of industrial production in Europe. We create and safeguard jobs here,” says Adrian Griese. “And even though the situation isn’t easy at the moment, as a family-run business we’re doing our bit to roll up our sleeves, look to the future and drive innovation forward. Together with many other family-run industrial businesses, we’re leading by example.”
Over the next ten years at the Hilchenbach site, Omnitron’s aim is to continue diversifying its application and customer portfolio and to steadily expand its competence in mobile power supply. “We encourage our staff to continually measure our progress against this goal and to make the necessary adjustments in every department as soon as possible. Only by continuing to develop can we position ourselves robustly for the future and think long-term,” says Adrian Griese. “And it’s all about long-term success. We want future generations to remain competitive too – this applies not only to our family, but to every single person in the company. Every employee, customer and supplier should be able to derive long-term value from the company.”
