Real-world airborne exposure meets in vitro precision
Part 3 of 7
Waldkirch, 14.07.2026 (PresseBox) - Not all test atmospheres can be tested the same way. Some require the Continuous Flow Exposure Principle.
In our Continuous Flow Exposure Systems, mammalian cells, tissues, and ex vivo material can be exposed to a constant flow of gases, complex mixtures, or particles - allowing both gas and particle phases to be assessed simultaneously. Furthermore, the method is fully compatible with organ-on-chip exposure using the AlveoliX AX12.
The Continous Flow exposure principle is indispensable when: • long-term exposure is required
• all phases of a test atmosphere are relevant
• testing materials / atmosphere is available in sufficient quantities for a longer-term continuous delivery
Depending on the Exposure System, exposures can last from several minutes up to 72 hours - enabling realistic ALI inhalation scenarios other methods cannot mimic.
What is the biggest challenge you face, when assessing the toxicological relevance of multi-phase atmospheres?
