FORMIC transport systems move heavy loads in swarms
Eingang Ost / Stand EO61E
Karlsruhe, 09.01.2026 (PresseBox) - Eingang Ost / Stand EO61E
Ants are known for their ability to move astonishingly heavy loads when working as a team. And that is precisely what the team at FORMIC has taken as its model, only a few orders of magnitude larger. The C35 and B50 transport vehicles from FORMIC Transportsysteme GmbH in Karlsruhe can move up to 3.5 or 5 tons per vehicle. And with up to 15 vehicles in a swarm, it adds up. Without any bolted connection between the vehicles and the load, they can move loads weighing several tons in confined spaces. Even on uneven ground.
The vehicles are controlled by an operator using a remote control. It is as if all the vehicles were a single remote-controlled vehicle. Thanks to a built-in lifting function, the vehicles can also pick up and set down loads.
The application examples for FORMIC vehicles are wide-ranging: from bringing new production machines into the factory hall, to the flow production of large steel components and machines, to the outdoor transport of bulky wooden structures – the vehicles are not picky about what they transport.
At Logimat, the FORMIC team will be exhibiting three compact C35 vehicles with a system load capacity of over 10 tons. The team will also be happy to answer any questions you may have at Logimat, including special requests such as specific vehicle dimensions, load capacities, or automated driving functions.
