Dev-Domains become available
Early Access Period has started
Koeln, 20.02.2019 (PresseBox) - The Early Access Period of Dev-Domains has started at February 18, where anyone can register available .dev domains for an access fee, which decreases leading up to General Availability.
The Early Access Period of the Dev-Domains (and also other domain extensions)
works like a Dutch auction. Interested parties may contact secura@domainregistry.de.
The access fee and the domain fee of the Dev-Domain are added. It could become expensive, if you buy a Premium Dev-Domain at an early date of the Early Access Period.
The General Availability of Dev-Domains will start on February 28, when really anyone can register available Dev-Domains.
The Dev-Domain is meant for developers.
The ICANN process of introducing new Top Level Domains continues.
Developments have now their own more secure home on the web: the Dev-Domain, the most relevant TLD for website and software developers.
Key points about Dev-Domain:
The Dev-Domain is an open TLD with a focus on improved security. The entire .Dev TLD has been added to the HSTS preload list, which means registrants will have to provision and set up SSL certificates in order for their content to be loaded in modern browsers
The Dev-Domain is a secure namespace, meaning that HTTPS is required for all .Dev websites. You can buy your Dev-Domain now, but in order for it to work properly in browsers you must first configure HTTPS serving. You can acquire webspace with pre-configured encryption at Secura GmbH without any additional costs or SSL Certificates.
The App-Domains and Software-Domains are alternative choices for websites concerning software.
